Company synopsis

Cockrams Surveying is a private fully independent firm of Chartered Surveyors. There are no ties to Estate Agents, Banks or Financial Advisors. The company acts in the best interest of and only for the individual private client. The company prides itself on diligent inspections, and accurate comprehensive reports based on a depth of knowledge and great experience in residential buildings and the property market.

Colin Cockram spent the first part of his working life serving in the Army as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant leaving in 1992. GCSE's, A-Levels, a Diploma and Degree were all past during the 1990's finally qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2003. He gained experience working for Exeter City Council and Shepherd Chartered Surveyors. Cockrams Surveyors was formed by Colin in April 2009. Acting as a sole practitioner Colin specialised in Building Surveys and RICS Homebuyers Reports for private individuals.

With a growing workload Colin employed Bob Hawthorne in April 2010 to assist with Surveys and Valuations. Bob qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1987 bringing to the company 23 years of experience. Bob gained his experience working for Central Government, a small private practice and later for Halifax Bank.

In January 2011 Colin employed a trainee surveyor offering a rare opportunity to gain the requisite experience to progress to become a Chartered Surveyor. Simon Buchanan graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2008 gaining a 2.2 BSc (Hons) fully RICS Accredited degree. He has since spent his time renovating and refurbishing his own properties thereby gaining a good grounding in construction techniques and building performance on which to become a fully rounded Chartered Surveyor.

 

Kylie joined Cockrams Surveyors in June 2011 as a Personal Assistant to enhance the customer service and general administration. Kylie moved to Cornwall with her Partner and brings a wealth of experience in customer service and general administration. Kylie is currently enrolled on a Modern Apprenticeship through Truro & Penwith College to train in bookkeeping and accounts.

Cockrams Surveying provides a wide range of services to its clients. Central to the business is Building Surveys, HomeBuyers Reports and Valuations. The company also undertakes specialist services such as "Look See" CCTV drain scans, mundic block testing, Capital Allowance Valuations, expert witness in disputes and advises on repair and maintenance of properties.

Being a small company without the burden of high overheads the prices for our services are very competitive. We do not profess to be the cheapest in the field but we do offer great value for money. We provide a highly professional yet personal service to our clients tailored to the individuals' needs. We are approachable and are happy to talk directly with our clients about the property they propose to purchase or service we are providing. We are not tied to any other institution so our clients' best interest is our only concern.
